About The Leaders:

Kat and John Wright and Marian Browne are the overall leaders of K2018, coordinating a team of volunteers, many of whom have been working together at Kepplewray for 20 years. They bring together their skills in teaching and youth work with a number of students, professionals from a variety of spheres and the odd vicar! Our team of volunteers work alongside the Kepplewray Instructors who supervise all outdoor activities to ensure that we stay safe in the Lake District.

Accommodation Type:

Our Venture is at the Kepplewray Centre (www.kepplewray.org.uk) which offers space to hang out both inside and out right in the midst of the picturesque Lake District. We sleep in dorms in this impressive old building which offers excellent facilities for those with a disability. We have indoor game facilities such as table tennis, table football & pool, as well as spectacular outdoor climbing & abseiling which we use under expert supervision. Our fabulous food is prepared by the Kepplewray team of cooks.

Activities and Programme:

Our program is based upon members choosing from an amazing range of activities amidst a daily routine of morning and evening Bible reading, worship, discussion, and prayer. Between a smattering of team games and whole Venture mayhem, members can choose whether to go kayaking, canoeing, mountain biking, rock climbing, abseiling, ghyll scrambling, bridge jumping or walking amidst spectacular scenery. Against this backdrop, our morning and evening meetings are a highlight with music, drama and teaching from the Bible to challenge and inspire. There is always time for chilling and chatting with friends and the Kepplewray family continue to encourage one another in their Christian walk throughout the year.

About Site and Area:

This is the 20th year of Ventures at Kepplewray. The overall leaders and many of the team involved in K2018 have been part of the Venture based here for many years. In that time we've got to know the site and the south west part of the Lake District, and we offer many exciting activities to enable people to get to know this wonderful place better.
Kepplewray itself has fabulous and extensive grounds just outside the picturesque market town of Broughton. The grounds incorporate 2 playing fields, an archery field, climbing tree, abseil ramp, and various other activities designed to challenge us.
The Duddon valley and Eskdale are close by offering opportunities for rock climbing, ghyll scrambling and bridge jumping. Coniston Water is a short drive away and is where we canoe, kayak and build rafts. There are plenty of mountains close by for those who would like a challenging day of fell-walking.
The Kepplewray centre has a team of specialist qualified instructors able to run all our outdoor activities to the highest standard. They are trained to ensure people of all abilities can enjoy and access all the outdoor activities.
