About us

Ventures and Falcons are holidays for 8-18s run by CPAS. Packed full of activities and with time to relax, they give young people the chance to make friends, have masses of fun and explore life with Jesus. Our goal is to include and welcome every young person, whether they have faith or not, and regardless of family circumstances, race, gender or sexuality.

Holidays worth sharing for 8-18s

Ventures are fun-filled holidays that offer children and young people aged 8-18 the opportunity to make great friends, take part in incredible activities and explore life with Jesus.

Most Ventures are around a week long and offer a wide range of activities, games, sports and crafts. Activity and Creative Ventures offer a more specialist holiday, and we also run shorter Taster Ventures.

Children and young people have the opportunity to learn and grow in small groups, connect with other young people and explore how the promises, challenges and questions in the Bible can apply to their lives, with the help of our amazing volunteer leaders.

‘Thank you so much for giving Holly such an amazing holiday. She loved it, didn't want to come home and has been talking about it non-stop. She can't wait for next year, and the year after, and wants to be a leader one day.’

Vicki, Leiston parent

Falcons are affordable, safe and exciting holidays for children and young people facing challenging circumstances.

Children and young people have an amazing opportunity to make friends, experience new things and have fun. They will engage in exciting, varied activities and have the chance to explore life with Jesus in a relevant and creative way.

Falcons are specifically designed to suit those who are facing disadvantage in their daily lives and are otherwise unlikely to have a holiday. These holidays are subsidised so cost is not a barrier to the young people attending and taking home memories that will last a lifetime.

On Falcon holidays, young people get to hear how much God loves them, and how important they are to him.

School Ventures are residentials which support pupils from Church of England primary schools in growing in their self-esteem and developing informed opinions about the Christian faith.

School Ventures enhance pupils’ RE experience and contribute to Church of England schools’ Christian distinctiveness, all within the context of a fun and safe residential.

Children aged 8-10 have the opportunity to investigate the core concepts of the Christian faith, explore their personal ideas, questions and responses, and, if they wish, connect with a children’s programme at a suitable local church.

‘The children were looked after so well. CPAS’ approach to safeguarding, general safety and the management of team and children has our total confidence.’

What is CPAS?

Venture and Falcon holidays are overseen by the experienced staff and trustees of CPAS, the Church Pastoral Aid Society, whose own history dates back to 1836.

Since our Fresh Air Fund camps in the 1920s, CPAS has been providing unique holiday experiences which have been cherished by generations of children and young people, as well as the many Christians who have been richly blessed in serving God through volunteering.

CPAS’ wider work focuses on developing missional leaders, which includes creating resources and delivering training events for leaders at all levels in local churches, as well as helping people explore God's call on their lives. We also appoint clergy with a heart for mission in our role as patrons to around 700 Church of England parishes.
