The Holiday:
Kepplewray provides the opportunity for unforgettable fun and adventures in the amazing Lake District. We will scramble up ghylls, go paddle boarding, climb mountains, get to know God, abseil, rock climb, canoe, read the Bible, play games, slip slide, sing, dance and chill together with new friends. No experience needed. Just come along with a willingness to join in, choose things you would like to try and have some serious Kepplewray fun whilst making friends and meeting God along the way!
The Location :
Kepplewray is a large mansion with extensive grounds just outside the picturesque market town of Broughton in Furness. We have large playing fields, an archery lawn and a barbecue and picnic area. All around us is fantastic scenery. For our lake-based activities we have private access to nearby Coniston Water, where we have all sorts of fun games on and in the water, including trips to the island. Nearby slate quarries provide the perfect place to try rock-climbing and abseiling. Mountain biking amidst beautiful Lake District scenery is an optional extra. On walk day, there is something to suit everybody - whether you’d prefer to take it easy, exploring woods or hidden caves, or take up the challenge of conquering one of England's highest mountains. Whatever you choose, the memories will stay with you for ever!
The Activities and The Programme:
Our wide-ranging activity programme allows members to take part in an exciting array of activities sandwiched between a daily routine of morning and evening worship. These meetings are a highlight with music, crazy competitions and teaching from the Bible to challenge and inspire. Evening dorm-times provide a quieter space for small group Bible-reading, questions, discussion and prayer. Days on site are filled with fun team challenges and whole Venture mayhem, with plenty of opportunity for individual creativity as well as sporting prowess. Offsite days offer you a choice of activities led by qualified outdoor instructors – the perfect way to test out and learn new skills, such as paddle boarding, canoeing, mountain biking, rock climbing, abseiling and ghyll scrambling. We also allocate one day to exploring the local area, making the most of our beautiful surroundings. Challenge yourself to climb a mountain and be rewarded with spectacular views or enjoy a gentle low-level lake-side amble. A barn dance party to round off the week is many people’s favourite event! Amidst all this there is always time for chilling and chatting with friends; the Kepplewray family continue to encourage one another in our Christian walk throughout the year.
The Team:
Marian, Daphne, Sarah and Richard are all “old hands” as overall leaders! Together we will be coordinating an enthusiastic team of creative and energetic volunteers, some of whom have been coming to Kepplewray for years and some of whom will be new “Keppleleaders”. Experienced teachers and youth workers join with students and young professionals from many different backgrounds and with a wide variety of interests, skills and talents, to put together a fun-filled and action-packed programme from morning to night. Qualified Kepplewray Instructors work alongside us, supervising all outdoor activities to ensure that we stay safe on our adventures.
